BIRT 2.3 SR1 Development (Fall Maintenance Release)
The BIRT 2.3.1 release was made available to the community on September 24. Congratulations to the team for getting the release out!
The release is primarily a maintenance release and contains fixes for 671 issues. There are also a couple of small new features, which you can read about on Jason's BIRT World Blog.
General Information for BIRT 2.3 SR1
BIRT 2.3 SR1 is the first maintenance release for BIRT 2.3. It is part of the coordinated Service Release for the Ganymede project. More information on the coordinated release can be found in the Service Release section of the Ganymede pages.
The designation for this release is BIRT 2.3 SR1, with the version number as BIRT 2.3.1.
The Development Plan for BIRT 2.3 SR1 is available on the Eclipse BIRT Project Development Plan pages. The Milestone schedule for the release is available in the Service Release timeline section of the Ganymede project page (BIRT is a "+2" project in this schedule).

BIRT 2.3 SR2 Development (Spring Maintenance Release)
With SR1 out the door, we are turning our attention to SR2 (BIRT 2.3.2), which is scheduled for a February 25, 2009 release date.
SR2 is a maintenance release and will have similar objectives to SR1 -- i.e. a focus on addressing community reported bugs.
The release plan will be posted for review in the coming weeks.

BIRT 2.5 Development
Current estimate for detailed planning for this release is October / November.
Two additional candidate projects for BIRT 2.5 were discussed today. These are projects that IBM are considering developing as part of the project:
- Further enhancements in the Bi-Directional Text area.
- Possible Open Office ODF support as an emitter.
General Information for BIRT 2.5
The June 2009 release of BIRT will be BIRT 2.5. Detailed planning has not be finalized although, some provisional planning has been completed via Bugzilla. To review, refer to Bugzilla using Target = 2.5 and Keyword "Plan"
BIRT 2.5 will be part of the Galileo Simultaneous Release.
